There is nothing better than a waffle board with endless topping options and gal time. So with Valentine’s Day around the corner, it’s time for a Waffle Board Galentine’s Day Brunch! For years, Valentine’s Day has been away for couples to show their love with huge massive grand gestures but this last year my gals have truly made the biggest difference in my life so why not send some love their way.
So I gathered up some of my closest gals over for some waffles, some treats, some hot drinks and a few gifts to take home. Over the last 5 years of this blogging adventure, I’ve been blessed with some of the most genuine friendships of my entire life. With acts of service as my love language, spoiling my friends with good food like a waffle board, hot drinks and plenty of laughter is a priority.
The highlight of the Galentine’s event was actually falling even more in love with my friends than I was before. There is something so magical about seeing the ones you love interacting in a different setting, with new people and seeing how the let themselves shine. For this reason, there were no pictures taken of the guests. I wanted them to come as they were and enjoy a meal they didn’t have to cook. To enjoy the waffle board and just be the people I love without having to think about a camera possibly enjoying a waffle a little too much.
Armed with my bestest Katherine at Our Happy Place, one of my favourite sassiest shop owners, Miss Eva at Empauer, Sarah from More Than Your Average Mom, and my newest friend that I literally met the day before Sophia from One Sweet Piece. These people make my heart smile in a way that I don’t know I can articulate fully. They bring out the joy, the laughter, my sarcasm and allow me to just be me, comfortably.
With two different coffee options and a delicious tea beverage, guests were able to make their perfect beverage. For the patient type, we had pour-overs using my pour-over coffee maker from Melitta Canada. Melitta recently sent me one and until now, I’d only enjoyed a pour-over at my fave coffee shop and now I am able to enjoy them at home. Or for the impatient type, we had Melitta’s Xpress Espresso Coffee made in my Keurig on hand cause you know how mom’s life can be.
The last beverage on the menu was from a local tea company Amoda Tea. They recently sent me a few of their wellbeing blends to try out. Being more of an avid coffee drinker, part of me was slightly skeptical but I do love me a tea so I had to give it a try. Then I simply had to share it with my friends! The Amoda wellbeing blends are caffeine-free powder blends and herbal teas that nourish your body, mind, and mood.
But the piece de resistance for this Galentine’s Day brunch was the waffle board; think Charcuterie board for waffles.
Years ago my oldest brother gifted me a Baby Cakes Waffle Iron that made heart-shaped waffles on a stick as a way to poke fun at my love for random kitchen appliances like the selfie toaster. Little did he know, we would fall in love with it. The heart shape is super cute and the waffles are the perfect thickness.
It wasn’t long before we were digging into the waffles and sipping our delicious coffees. There were chocolate waffles, Buttermilk waffles, and Cinnamon waffles with the usual suspects; fruit, syrup, whip cream and the most incredible Intense Wild Blueberry Jam that I’d received at a media event the day before from Bonne Maman. Along with the sweet, you must have the savory option as well, so we had chopped bacon with ranch dressing and green onions.
Don’t’ save moments like this for a Galentine’s Day brunch, do it on Tuesdays or Sundays, don’t wait. You never know who just needs to sit with friends and just enjoy. These moments are too amazing and too important to wait. You don’t need a reason, so grab your girls, make a ton of waffles and just be there; Galentine’s day or not!
Huge thank you to Nena Skincare, Canvas Candle Co and Amoda Tea for sending goodies for the guests to take home. Self-care is so important and I wanted to these items to remind them that it doesn’t have to be a large gesture. Sometimes lighting a candle, pouring a cup of tea and a face mask is all you need to fill up your cup! You’re worth it!
