I promised you another cookie recipe in our last post HERE and lately we’ve been on a fun adventure of taking our favourite comfort foods and giving them a little twist! Today’s recipe is my husband’s favourite cookie.. Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies! Bacon in Cookies. it’s actually a thing. Bacon in cookies?! The sweet and the savoury is beyond beautiful and if you haven’t tried, you need to!

Maple Bacon Cookies

Adding bacon to everything has been a “thing” for a long time now and given how amazing bacon is, can you really blame anyone? If you’ve never had bacon banana bread.. you should but for now, let’s start out with the sweet and savoury maple bacon chocolate chip cookies. Don’t even get me started on the amazingness of Maple!

You will need:

2 1/2c. All purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1c. of butter, softened

1c. packed brown sugar

1/2 c. granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 tbsp vanilla

1 tbsp Maple Syrup

1 package semisweet chocolate chips

6-8 slices of Maple bacon

1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Cook bacon until slightly crispy. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl.

2. Beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.  Beat in eggs and vanilla.  Add flour mixture to butter mixture; beat until well blended. Stir in Chocolate Chips and Bacon pieces.

3. Drop tablespoons of dough about 3 inches apart onto parchment paper-lined cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.  Cool on cookie sheets for 2 minutes.  Remove to wire racks; cool completely.  Makes about 6 dozen.

The sweet and the savory co-mingling is like a heavenly party in your mouth! Kids love them, men loves them and the Maple Syrup just enhances the bacon flavour! They’re a guaranteed conversation started and a welcomed Christmas gift unless you’re a vegetarian and then maybe they don’t like them. In that instance, I would split the recipe half and half so that you are still left with the classic Chocolate Cookie for those who aren’t as appreciative of bacon and then the other half will be loaded up with bacon and I for one wouldn’t complain!

Happy Baking Everyone!
